Sizing & Safety

Two sizes. One for you, one for her.

Every Penny Faye design comes in a Mother size and a Mini size. Both are open cuffs, and both are adjustable — you can open them wider or squeeze them tighter with a bit of muscle. So you are fitting to a wrist, not matching an exact measurement.

They adjust

These are solid steel, so they hold their shape — but they will move for you. Hold the bangle with both hands and ease the opening wider to size up, or press it gently closed to size down. It takes real hand pressure, not a delicate touch, and that is deliberate: a bangle that reshaped itself easily would not stay where you put it.

Work slowly and in small increments, checking the fit as you go. Like any metal, steel prefers not to be flexed back and forth many times in the same spot, so get it right in a few passes rather than a dozen.

About the Mini size

As a general guide, the Mini suits little ones from around 18 months to 3 years. That is an average, and every child is built differently — it may fit one at eighteen months and another closer to four.

If it is too big when it arrives, that is not a problem. Squeeze it in a little, or set it aside and give it to her when it fits. Plenty of our Minis are bought long before they are worn — a gift put away for the right moment, which is rather the point of a piece meant to last.

Please do not have her wear it loose in the meantime. A bangle that slides over the hand is the one thing we would ask you to avoid — it is the fit that can catch on furniture, car seats, or playground equipment. Adjust it in, or wait. Too big simply means not yet.

How to check the fit before ordering

A bangle has to clear the widest part of the hand, not just the wrist. Press the thumb toward the palm as if slipping a bracelet on, then measure across the widest point of the hand at that position. Compare it to the 59 mm (Mother) or 38 mm (Mini) inner width above.

The Mini's 10 mm gap is intentionally narrow. It is small enough that the bangle will not slip off on its own, which matters more on a toddler than a perfect fit does.

Safety

We make jewelry meant to stay on, which means we take fit and supervision seriously. Please read this before your little one wears theirs.

Getting the fit right matters

  • Too loose is the bigger risk. A bangle that can slide over the hand can also catch on furniture, car seats, crib slats, or playground equipment. If it is loose, squeeze it in.
  • Too tight restricts. You should be able to rotate the bangle easily and slip a fingertip underneath.
  • Re-check as they grow. Toddler wrists change quickly. Check the fit every few weeks and open the bangle out as she grows into it.

Jewelry is not recommended for infants, and children should be supervised while wearing it.

When to take it off

We built these to stay on through water and daily life. Still, remove your child's bangle during unsupervised sleep, and any time they are climbing or playing on equipment where jewelry could snag.

Check for damage

Look the piece over now and then. If you find a sharp edge, a crack, or a spot bent out of shape, stop using it and contact us.

Materials

Every Penny Faye piece is built on solid 316L stainless steel. Our silver pieces are 316L throughout. Our gold pieces carry an 18k gold PVD finish — a vacuum-bonded coating, not electroplating — chosen because it holds up to water, sunscreen, and daily wear without flaking or discoloring skin.
